Baking: Kladdkaka (Swedish Chocolate Cake)

My mind is tellin me no
But my body, my body’s tellin’ me yes

R.Kelly and someone about to eat Kladdkaka

Dessert is an area of cooking that I often ignore. As most people, I have a couple of pounds I want to lose and well, after making a main, I’m usually tired enough from that. The other night I was trying to prepare a special three course meal, and I came across this amazing recipe for Kladdkaka, a gooey Swedish chocolate cake. What inspired me to make this was simple, only six ingredients needed and it could be prepared in about 10 minutes. Hard to beat that!

These six ingredients needed

  • 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1.75 cups Sugar
  • 9.5 oz Butter (How am I still alive?!)
  • Three Eggs
  • 1 cup Flour

Melt the butter on the stove top in a sauce pan. This the part when your mind might be telling you no but don’t listen!

While that is happening, mix the flour, cocoa powder, and sugar together. Whisk the eggs and then wait for the butter to melt and cool a little bit. Once that has occurred, mix these all together, grease a cake sheet and throw in the oven.

20 minutes at 350 degrees and you have yourself a delectable, chocolate cake. If you like lava cakes, you will love this recipe with nowhere near the amount of work needed. Serve this with vanilla ice cream and you will have a guaranteed hit on your hands. What I love most about this recipe, is that it is the equivalent of eating warm cake batter. Who doesn’t love that!
